- THE PSA -

"PSA" is an acronym for “Public Service Announcement”. All media will run public service announcements as long as they are for a not-for-profit organization and a community event. The key is to keep it simple and short. You should give media at least one month’s notice, and a minimum of 10 days notice of your event. For community calendars, you should send in info to magazines no later than the first six days, the month prior to when you would like it printed. Go to the Local Media List to get a copy of local media outlets you can send your info to.

Here is a sample layout for a PSA:

January 3, 2006
(This should be the date you send out the PSA, NOT the date of your event)

Headline (Keep it short and snappy!)

• Location and time
• Ticket cost and where to get tickets
• Who it is benefiting if it is a fundraiser.
• Where people can get more information
(Phone #, email, web address- if available)
